Trip Itinerary

An early morning jeep ride along the Sunkoshi River, passing through Okhaldhunga. The drive isscenic with terraced hills, rivers, and rural villages. Dhap offers the first views of Numbur Himal andEverest on clear days.Overnight in Dhap.

Trek through rhododendron and pine forests, yak pastures, and Sherpa villages. Stop at Jhapre, asmall monastery village with excellent views of Numbur and Everest. Continue with a gradual butsteady ascent to Pikey Base Camp, a peaceful ridge surrounded by alpine meadows.Overnight at Pikey Base Camp.

Wake up before dawn for a 1.5 hr climb to Pikey Peak summit (4065 m). On a clear morning, thesunrise reveals Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Annapurna, and Numbur Himal. Descendto Base Camp for breakfast, then continue down through yak pastures to Jasmane Bhanjyang(3550 m).Overnight in Jasmane.

Optional second attempt of Pikey Peak if Day 3 was cloudy. After breakfast, descend graduallythrough rhododendron forest, passing Mani walls and chortens, before reaching Junbesi, one of themost historic Sherpa villages.Overnight in Junbesi.

A light recovery day. Explore Junbesi village, known for its 16th-century monastery, stone-pavedstreets, and traditional Sherpa houses. Meet locals, enjoy Sherpa hospitality, and prepare for thecamping section of the trek.Overnight in Junbesi.

Trek out of Junbesi valley, visiting Thuptenchholing Monastery, home to hundreds of monks andnuns, and then Pungmoche Monastery, a small and peaceful retreat surrounded by pine forest.Continue into more remote highlands, arriving at Sangifuk (3100 m) — a meadow with stunningviews of Numbur Himal. The campsite is surrounded by pine and juniper forests, with grazing yaksnearby.Overnight camping at Sangifuk.

The trail climbs steadily with close-up views of Numbur Himal. Along the way, you will pass 3–4small alpine lakes, each reflecting snowy peaks in calm weather. Chharam Kharka is an open ridgemeadow with dramatic views.Overnight camping at Chharam Kharka.

Ascend higher into rugged alpine landscapes, crossing moraines and glacial streams. Descend into the sacred meadow of Saharsa Beni, a high pasture often used by yak herders andpilgrims. The place has strong spiritual significance for locals.Overnight camping at Saharsa Beni.

A pilgrimage hike to Dudh Kunda Lake, a sacred glacial lake beneath Numbur Himal. BothBuddhists and Hindus believe bathing here washes away sins. The turquoise lake sits in a dramaticcirque of snowy peaks. Return to Saharsa Beni for camping.Overnight camping at Saharsa Beni.

A long descent through forested hillsides and yak pastures brings you to Ringmu, a traditionalSherpa village.

Trek along ridgelines with sweeping Himalayan panoramas. Pattale (2900 m) is one of the bestroadside viewpoints for Everest, Makalu, and Lhotse, especially at sunrise.Overnight in Pattale.

Final scenic drive back to Kathmandu, passing terraced farmlands and river valleys.Overnight in Kathmandu.
